So while I was struggling to get some of my artistic mojo back I decided to go back to basics and do a little coloring. After a quick online search for coloring pages I ended up finding a .pdf of the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Coloring Book that was published back in the 80s. I only had enough ink to print one page so i decided to do the first one and may go back to do the rest of it at a later time.

Yeah they did several of em, this one was more of a mini adventure where the other one i've seen is kind of a AD&D for Dummies to explain races, classes and alignments. Here's the url if you're interested. http://monsterbrains.blogspot.ca/20.....geons-and.html
Also i couln't do coloring in school either, i never wanted to stay with what i was presented with and tried to add to it.

Wow! That's pretty cool! I didn't get into tabletop gaming until the early 2000's, but I do enjoy AD&D from a historical perspective. Looking at these pages, I can only wonder what parents thought who had no idea what it was and that they're children were playing it, lol.
Hmm, maybe that's what makes an artist an artist, eh? I found my own creative outlet in writing, but that wasn't until high school.

Sweet. I've always said that art comes in many forms, you just have to find the one that's right for you.
As for the coloring book, yeah i can only imagine peole trying to defend the passtime of table top RPGs in the time of the Satanic Panic of the 70s-90s when one of the sections of the coloring book aimed at kids is named "Tiamat, the queen of hell"

True that, and art comes in many forms!
Same here. I actually have an older guy in my local D&D group who's in his 50's and he's talked about how he had to hide his D&D books in the 80's because his mother would freak out when the topic of it was brought up and would say things like "as god as my witness, not in this house". So he had to live through that crazy time. It's pretty interesting hearing about it from someone who saw the panic firsthand.

LOL i grew up in that period. When my parents split up i was living with my mom and she was cool with us playing AD&D since she knew we were all already reading Stephen King and Dean Koontez, playing Mortal Kombat, watching horror movies etc and none of those things had turned us into violent psychopaths.
My old man on the other hand wouldn't hear of it. He found my brother's character sheets one time and was about to rip them to confetti when he realized that I'd been using the game to encourage him to read more. (At the time he was in grade 9 with a grade 3 reading level and had been told by his teachers "Give up, you'll never improve. Your family doesn't have the money to make a difference.). After reading over the sheets and seeing how my brother was learning about how dark ages society worked, history and improving his literacy skills to the point that within a year he was reading my used university texts he was suddenly ok with the whole thing.

Yeah. now the funny thing is that he looked over the sourcebooks then turned to me in total disgust and says "There's nothing in it about the island of the racing sun. That's garbage."
I was floored! I had no idea he'd read the Oddsey or that he was that familiar with it.
