Y'know, you have a pretty solid sense of pacing there. It glides along smoothly until the punchline jumps in and yells 'surprise!' Not to wordy, but still gets across what's going on and where you might be headed with things. And, of course, just the right touch of overdone drama for that Noir effect. :)
