"All we need now is me to be a figment of my own imagination inside a simulated reality"
The following is a message passed along from "DEEP THOUGHT'', the supercomputer currently running the simulation...
"My apologies subject # 3,458,635,943 however you were programed specifically not to have that experience. That particular sub-program is currently running under subject # 7,865,943,042. Archival experiential data will be available for download after the full simulation has been completed in approximately another 4 and-a-half million years. You will be free to request a download and experience that simulation at that time.

Also, http://orig11.deviantart.net/02f4/f.....by_jocarra.jpg - unfortunately doesn't show the folded steel details very well, though.

Yeah, I used to do ren fair and SCA. Work schedule prevents me from fighting for the last decade, I miss it. Don't fit in my armor anymore to even do the fair. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19639989/ so it's relegated to hanging on a beat up mannequin in the living room.
Of course I built that harness for 26yo 175lb me, not 39yo 187lb me....
Need to upload pics of my one custom sword, thought I had but don't see em. Might have been lost in server hack.

Oh, that's awesome! Some friends of ours were really big into the SCA, were in the middle of making their own leather plate armour so they could take part in the battles - that's some nice chainmail, did you make it yourself? I think my friend had started some chainmail but it was taking so long she just ended up using it as accents I think.
Indeed!
I made almost the entire rig, from taking my own measurements and sketching patterns to make the panels of the padded gambeson, which is duck canvas shell, moving blanket core, and satin lining so it can be worn against bare skin.
Weaving the chain hauberk, all 250,000 rings. AFTER bending them from galvanized fence wire, IIRC a bit over quarter mile of wire.
The black/green leather vest is lined with steel plates that overlap, each is secured to the shell with 3 rivets, I never counted them, just enough for reinforcements across the kidneys and floating ribs.... Guessing 200-250 plates. All cut from pallet banding, super tough tempered high carbon steel. The time it took to drill holes in that stuff, and the number of bits I was killing stopped me from doing more!
And tooling all the leather, I must have wasted 1000 labor hours on that, I tracked just the embossing on ONE of the thigh pieces at a bit over 40 hours. Plus the articulated parts at about 8 hours per side. Not to mention the hand pencil sketching of the patern before carving and then embossing..... Elbows and forearms are equally involved.
After the leather was tooled, I shaped it to the right shape, and hardened it with paraffin wax. It's super rigid in cool to comfortable temps, but gets pliable in warmer weather.
I caught a LOT of flack for actually fighting in the piece of artwork I had made, but at the end of the day I got just as much compliments for its authenticity and my own agility while wearing it! Whole getup once the sweat barrier had built up was about 55-60 lbs. However it's so comfortable that I have actually slept in it!!!!
Ahhhh,... Now I miss being young again.
I will try to remember to upload detail pics sometime.

Uh, at a sword store? Husband has always sorta liked collecting weapons, although if he can, he'll shell out extra for non-display, authentic ones as opposed to $50 tacky fantasy models. I think it was from a place called Warriors and Wonders, although I'm not sure if they've undergone a change in management or anything like that over the years: http://www.warriorsandwonders.com/
I feel awkward to favorite this (I dunno, something about faving photos of real people? Makes me feel weird D: ) butbutbut--
--this is rad and I am so happy seeing a few up there that are human/oid lol and it is really neat seeing a picture of you! Sometimes, seeing what someone else looks like online is really neat. Like, another connection is made. Thanks for sharing!

Haha, nahh, I know what you mean. "OMG does this make me a creep >_>" I don't think it does :b although to be fair, I've favourited a ton of artistic nude pics on deviantArt or really nice portrait works, so even though I get it, it obviously doesn't actually affect me :b Just tell yourself you're favouriting it for the art? lol
Thank you very much! Yeah, I could have tried harder to pick pieces that were closer to me personally, but I tried to have a good spread of images (although I stuck more or less to semi-realistic characters, didn't use my map illustrations or logo work or anything, haha). So, did I look anything like you might have imagined? Usually artists are a bit of a blank slate for me in my head so it's never particularly jarring to see their real life photos, but sometimes I find their real life appearance actually totally fits with their art!

I have to agree with the very first comment... With that pose and costume, that image fits in so well with the rest. In fact, I could see her taking on any number of those beasts she's surrounded by, and maybe not even coming out too much on the unfortunate end!
And the canid on the upper right (I assume wolf)... Damn, I'd have thought that was a photo! Impressive.
