Weeeelll... 2 months. Lol.
It's because i do not cut back on any part of the process. I take the time to try out ideas, then present multiple good ones to the commissioner; i collect as many references and inspirational material as possible; i present multiple color sketches to the commissioner; then i start painting but i will still spend more time staring at it and making observations/plans than actually painting. Guess i could do it a lot faster, i'm perfectly capable of rushing out a shaded, colored full-body character illustration with lineart and textures and background art in a 10 hours sitting, but i don't like doing that.
(i just thought "2 months" requires some kind of explanation)

Thank You SO MUCH for this detailed explanation. Well, You can clearly see the brain work in Your pieces, tbh. I never assumed You could just go on and paint something as magnificent in one day and without trying out a few things. But this is really helpfull.
I am having the problem that after a month of working on one picture I start hating it to the extent where I just am more likely to abandon it, than keep working and finish it off :( I try to fight this, and maybe thanks to You I will find the strenght to do so. This is realy worth it. I bet someone with Your skill could make a perfect drawing in 10 hours. I really hope one day I could reach Your level n____n
Have a lovely day, dear!
