Still couldn't resist using the title pun! I think this was the first artwork of my battlesharksona, Jax, from tales_foxdale, and might have been the first shark he drew. Suffice to say with the amount of Jax and other shark-themed pieces I tossed at him, he certainly grew even more adept at drawing them. Tales' amazing talents for drawing scifi stuff and military hardware shined through as it always did though. I'm a huge fan of the 'new' Battlestar Galactica series (at this point close to 10 years done!) and after snagging the Blu-ray boxset and going through a serious kick of love for the darker-toned take on the classic late 70's series, I couldn't help but commission a BSG-themed piece from him! Jax takes centre-stage in this piece, cast as a badass Colonial Viper pilot with more than a little bit of the Kara Thrace / Starbuck 'tude to her, who served as initial inspiration for Jax to begin with. Tales has done wonderful work on the pose of my sharky and the angle and especially on the Viper Mark II. Holy crap, has he drawn that well. Just so much love for this piece from me! <3 Hopefully BSG fans, both classic and re-imagined series alike, will get a kick out of seeing this!
