I can repair appliances, what's going on with the stove?

The igniter in the oven died. Probably easy to fix but my parents figured it was time to replace it. It lasted over 20 years. Kinda sad really, it was the last original appliance in the house.

what color is it?

new one will be stainless steel, the old was black and white.

That's too bad. The oven in our house here's probably 40 years old. But it's electric so no ignitor.

yeah we could of fixed it but turns out my mom didn't like it that much. something about when you'd move pots and pans around, it would drag the burner top with them. and when your kitchen starts to smell like gas, its probably better to just replace it. it was a low end model in 1995 as well

Yeah we like this stove, it works really well, if you don't like the stove, it's like a tool that doesn't work right, so you replace it, your mom is doing the right thing imo

I think it is an easy fix, and you should keep the oven. The saying, 'they don't make em like they used to' holds true. Many modern appliances are full of gadgets and features that will only break down. It's why my next car is going to be an older used car. I don't need smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth compatability, navigation systems, or touch screens even. A car should just be a car, like an oven should just be an oven. That said, how's the grilled pizza?

Hah, I don't cook too often but whenever we lose power for an extended period of time I take it as a challenge to cook as much shit as I can on the grill. I've done pizzas, pasta, eggs & bacon, you name it lol. Good stuff

ever see people cook food in a muffler hotbox or in a car's engine compartment? and at the oil change shop I worked at, I used to fill a bowl with hot water from the coffee machine and place a soup can in it till it got warm.

Hah I've never seen that in person but I remember when I was a kid and we used to go snowmobiling one of the old dudes used to have a rack where we could cook breakfast on top of the expansion chamber under the hood of his sled on the side of the trail in the middle of the winter
