And that's all for now. Next issue will bring Kopa into continuity, and I think it's going to be awsome. It's the issue I've been waiting to make since I started this thing. Unfortunately for various reasons (lazyness being a big one) I was unable to do any work on issue 3 this christmas holiday and because of this, it is unlikely that I will be able to complete this next issue until February next year. Well, at least I didn't leave it on a cliffhanger.

I am enjoying the story so far. Though I must admit the sudden christian influence surprised me and kinda disappointed me a little, but that's my problem XD Not your fault I've had terrible experiences with christains. The whole "Trust in God" thing sent horrible flashbacks to when I was forced to do nothing but sit in my room with a Bibie.. *shudders* Because of that, I avoid anything vaguely chriastain-ey like the plague. Also, at first, they didn't seem like "Christain" lions. They were coming off as very Buddhist, with how the first cub approached Timone and Puumba.
Also, if you think about it, in Africa, during the time Lion King took place, there was little or none of the "gospel" going about. I'm pretty sure a creature from there would have at least a different name for a Monothiestic Diety.
To make it more realistic, try to do some study into African culture and put some of that influence into the story. ^^ Also, remember the Great Circle from the original movie, and provide some background on why Timone and Pumba got kicked out, and what happened to cause the Outlanders to once again get kicked out. (Remember in the second movie they had joined back together because they realized Simba was right) There were a lot of things that left me wondering.
Another quick note. Look up some tutorials on Lion anatomy and put more time into your frames. ^^ From there, I'm sure you can make an even greater story and a vast improvement.
I hope my little critique didn't bother ya. ^^ Critique is what has helped me become the artist I am today.

I'm actually atheist, but all the christians I've met are really nice people so I didn't want to put them in a bad light. But I didn't want to sugarcoat it either, so I wrote with my honest impressions of the religion, so as not to demonise christianity in this story arc which will revolve around religious conflict.
I see The Lion King as an american fantasy, so I take my cues from their culture. Afterall, lions don't really live monogamous relationships as the movies suggest. And it doesn't matter when the gospel was introduced to africa, as humans don't exist in the world of TLK, and that's a rule I plan to stick to.
I haven't abandoned the great circle philosophy, I've just added a different belief system into the mix, so that, like in the world we live in, there's more than one. And Timon and Pumbaa were banished in the first issue, which I've uploaded to my DA six months ago, but I couldn't be bothered uploading it again to FA when I got an account.
I learn through doing this comic, but you're right that I should put more practice into lion anatomy before I start the next issue. But I can't put any more time into my frames than I already have, because it's from a lack of skill that they are what they are, not a lack of effort.
I really appreciate the in depth comment, and the critique. I certainly think about it more, before I plan the next issue. Thank you.

Ah allright. ^^ It makes sense. It also makse me feel better about the next issue. That means it's not going to turn all preachy and make me cower under a bed XDD The white lion scares me..>.>.. Lol! I wish I'd had more good experiences with Christians XD I'm Freeform Spiritualist, or Eclectic Pagan, I suppose you could call it. ^^
And yeah that's very true. That is a big point. The original Lion King didn't even have African influences in the movie.
I did end up finding out about and then going and reading the first issue on dA and understand a lot more now. ^^ The backplot makes sense now.
And as I very well know, practice makes perfect. I used to draw horribly just a few years ago.
Oh, do you draw sketch lines? I used to think they weren't necessary, and went for a very long time without doing so. Then, I started. It made my art jump a mile in a day when I actually started. It helps you figure out where to put stuff. If you look at a tutorial that breaks a lion down to the basics, so you know what goes on underneath the lion's skin. Knowing the underlying bones, muscles, and movements of the animal helps massively.. believe me... before I knew anything about that I made terrible animals XD I'll give you an example of my really old stuff XD
Ok... *hides* This is one of my first pictures of my character Eldaron. http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i.....nt=Eldaron.jpg This is better then some of my early stuff but still.. that anatomy.. those arms.. *shudders* XD I can't believe I was proud of that at one time 00 XD This predates even that, and the face makes me want to hide the fact that I ever drew it XDDD http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i.....=mypics003.jpg
Here's another really old thing. http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i.....=mypics008.jpg
And now for some of my current art. This is a new one of the character Eldaron. Years or practice practice practice and trying and trying and trying and being disappointed in my work, hitting art blocks, trying again, and I'm here. http://lover-of-the-drow.deviantart.....-WIP-111190773

I'm showing you this because I don't want you to become discouraged. I want you to keep trying and keep practicing You will shine. You have great potential! ^^ The lack of skill can be easily fixed with hard work and practice. I still need to keep practicing and work at stuff, because I still can't foreshorten, still such at complicated poses, and have a hard time with several characters in one picture.
And I don't mind giving critique. I also like receiving them. It's critiques that have helped me along my journey as an artist.. And thank you for accepting it. ^^ Sometimes when I put up friendly critique (I always start it with a nice comment on what I like about the picture, story, or comment, then try to be as nice as possible in the critique) people get really nasty and start flaming me and I'm like "Dude I was nice! Come off it!"
Lol hey, at least you actually finish a comic XD I've started several and gave them up cause they sucked XD So I stick to novel writing. I know how hard it is to write a story. I don't know how many times I've been displeased with my story and went back to rewrite it again.
Hey, maybe make a project of this. Every month or so, redraw a same character, Frame, or picture with the new skill you've amassed to see how it evolves through the years. I never did that, because I didn't think about it then (And I'm too lazy now XD)
Sometimes seeing your improvement is enough to help pull you out of an at block if you fall into one. Hey I hope I helped at least a little. ^^

I actually did some work on lion bone structure when I was making the cover. You sound like you're ashamed of your older art, but I don't understand why. It shows that you've improved. However I do feel embarrassed if I only have older stuff up and none of my newer stuff to show my current skill level. I felt really embarrassed when I was working on TLKc2 because it was so much better than anything I'd done, but for months I had to keep it to myself until I finished, and anyone who looked at my gallery would think my ability was significantly less than it currently was.
Oh, and I'm the same with the pride thing. Straight after I draw something right I'd often feel proud of it for a short period of time, then less and less over time until I think it's not very good at all. I felt proud of the art in this comic a few days before its completion but then I looked at someone else’s gallery. Someone who was several levels bellow me, who caught up fast and is now kicking my arse. I'm not really proud anymore, but I'm still satisfied with the comic overall.
My current skill level does not discourage me because I can draw anything I can imagine when I put the work in. I just wanted to make it clear that I've taken every measure I could to make sure that every page is my best work at the time I draw it, and putting more time into my panels would not have yielded a better result. Also the artist that's kicking my arse is encouraging, because if she can beat me then I can beat those above me.
It's too bad that you get flamed for critiquing but people on the internet have varying maturity levels, and some people don't know to not take it personally. I'm used to a lot harsher critique than yours, in my course you have to be ready to justify every decision you make you'll look like an idiot.
I don't really get into art blocks anymore. I always have my comic to think about, and because the medium is so structured it's not hard for me to figure out what I'll draw next when I get started.

That's awesome. ^^
The "If she can beat me then I can beat others" is very, very true. ^^ It's a great way to think. When I give critique I try to be really nice about it so the person feels encouraged to keep trying and improving. When you get your next tissue out, I'll definitely give it a read. ^^
