TJ Mailer, or just Mailer.
He's a friendly, kind hearted, and talkative guy. He always likes to be honest and straightforward, and always prefers non-violent solutions to problems, citing violence as a lazy way out and just mean. So naturally, his position in the Confederate Information Commission as a Section 1 Agent puts him at odds with some of his superiors, and more notably the military, who like to brute force their problems away. He does a lot of boots on the ground work, hunting dangerous fugitives, gathering intel, rescuing VIPs from bad situations, and etc. And he tries to do so without hurting folks. If there was ever a friendly special forces guy offering service with a smile, it'd be Mailer.
He is also a chatterbox, regularly if you get him talking he just won't shut up. He could talk for hours and not slow down. His bubbly and bright personality and backwater speech mannerisms make him stand out among some of his colleagues... along with his general poor hygiene. Mailer is also optimistic, always hoping for the best, especially from people... though he believes that no one is totally free of malice. If anything, maybe he hopes for too much from others, he has called that a weakness of his....and the fact that he can get some serious tunnel vision when focusing on a task.
Despite this, he is a highly trained agent, and is more than capable of being overwhelmingly dangerous if he ever needed to, but he finds that killing is distasteful and endeavors to solve problems without doing so. Some mild gene mods enhance his physical capabilities slightly, but those are largely overshadowed by his rigorous training and years of experience in the field. Known as a Greeneyes, his specific training and kit focuses on stealth and subterfuge rather than brute force. His standard armor provides moderate protection from small arms fire and environmental hazards, but the main focus of his kit is to provide unparalleled stealth capabilities and tools. These include sound dampening fields, optical camouflage units, an augmented reality helmet with night, thermal, and electromagnetic vision, along with several expert systems to analyze the environment. To him a mission is a success if no one ever found a clue of him being there.
He carriers a smart gun rifle with him that uses a hybridization of standard chem-ex rounds and accelerator rails. Like most Austican ballistics, the rounds can change their size, shape, and density in mid flight to maximize efficiency to their predicted target. The Coyote Type-86 offers superior scanning resolutions, stopping power, and a more sophisticated fire control system. His sidearm is the standard six shot Westwood Cobra laser pistol, it offers high stopping power at the cost of efficiency. Mailer's weapon of choice is a variable length bo staff, it can collapse into a smaller form when not in use. The weapon offers him a non-lethal close quarters option with serious stopping power. He also carries a variety of other small tools like a grapple gun built into his armor, cutting tools, a small medkit, and other miscellaneous gadgets.
Story wise... if he is not showing up as a friendly dork, he is showing up as an antagonist... the fact that he works for the law and follows a code of his puts him at odds with pirates and smugglers. He might even get along with some of them, but if he has a job to do he knows he has to do it. And he will make sure it gets done.
