from what I read your character will carry over from the first game but I don't know if you can play as them. They are seen as a hero there is a statue of them and they will show up in some story missions.

And I'm glad you did, the play of light and shadow in this
one are completely amazing and very, very cool. Exactly
how you managed such a bright, diffuse light for the
center of the effect itself is something I can't even
begin to figure out.
