I have a new critter coming, just thought I'd show off the work involved in his new enclosure. It's kind of arty!
Started with the blank Exo-Terra in the top left.
Picked up black 100% silicone, spread it thin on the background and part of the sides. Allowed to dry.
Got grapewood and corkbark, and 3 small peat pots. Figured out how I wanted those to go.
Got Great Stuff foam. Sprayed it around the items as I wanted them. Had to do this in three stages; back, side, other side. Had to allow each side to dry. (1 day a side.)
Used a Dremel sanding bit to cut back some of the larger blobs of foam.
Spread more black silicone on in small patches, covering each patch with bits of coco fiber substrate. Allowed to dry in patches (this step took 2 days).
Vacuumed excess. Patched places where Great Stuff was still showing.
Scraped glass free of excess silicone.
Added hydroponic balls, dirt, and sphagnum peat, and planted. Misted heavily.
I am ready for my new critter now. Come on, weather, be more good.
