x3 I know, but that's what it felt like to me. I know it wasn't a 'ripoff' in the traditional sense, but they had a hit with Wolfenstein so they tried something more akin to a Wolfenstein of horror and created DOOM, and boy was that ever a success. So they tried to duplicate the formula (minus the 'demons from hell' part) with regular monsters (albeit of a Lovecraftian variety) and an actual 3D environment. It's a good way to kill an afternoon, but I still prefer DOOM. That and Wolfenstein 3D will always have a special place in my heart. There was talk of a fan made level that was essentially a Quake/DOOM crossover. I don't know if it was a map for Quake with the creatures from DOOM, or the other way around, but I heard somebody made it some time ago.
Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I kinda see it like Naughty Dog going from Crash to Jak, or Uncharted to The Last of Us. It's basically 'same game, different world', with some improvements in the tech and gameplay. I still prefer DOOM, too, but I do wish Quake 1 got more respect nowadays. Seems it go ignored for the space marine Quake 2 and arena shooter 3 (which Champions seems to be trying to recapture).
If id software re-released Quake like they did the DOOM Classic Collection, that would be sweet for us non-Windows gamers. But I think they basically have done nothing but retweet a few articles for the anniversary XD

They might have the original Quake on GOG.com (that's where I got most of my old games, since they wouldn't work on Win10 otherwise. The ones I didn't get from there I got from Steam), if they do they should have a download available for Mac users (or Linux, I don't know. I just download for Windows). Wait a sec, I'll go check for ya.
~zips off~......
They have all three, but they're Windows only. :< Sorry about that.

Sorry about that. I know some sites (like Nexus) have a download for Mac or Linux, I think, as well as Windows. But GoG doesn't, apparently. They have something on the lower right saying something about that, but I never bothered checking. <.<
We should get on Skype and talk games sometime. =3

Gave me a good laugh either way.
As someone who is of partial British extraction through paternal lineage, I have never quite understood how Koreans could be so rancy about the current state of affairs between the two main capitals of the northern and southern halves of their country, Pyongyang and Seoul respectively. They've only had to deal with that amount of cultural separation for an amount of time barely reaching above 60-odd years in length. They simply haven't the faintest bloody clue how ridiculously humiliating it is for a British subject under God and Queen such as Puzzle to constantly have to remind her lesser-developed American sibling that school is not pronounced skoo-il, and vitamins are not called vigh-tamins. We as 21st-century Britons cannot spare such time and logic for such trivial topics as gulags, mass torture, modern enslavement, and a highly militarized police state, as such dreadful topics simply have no place for discussion in modern, civilized, and polite society.

Pronounce it as skool then, which I do too as a result of a Western dialect continuum expanding into Canada. That was my fuck up, my bad.
If not my fault, then I might need to abduct you in the middle of the night and reprogram your brain so as to deflate the British properness. Maybe even wipe your memories so I can turn you into a body double in case North Korean secret agents catch on to me.
