Was unsure if I should upload - too many old re-used ideas, awkward outlines... but what the hell.

All the heads of Seeing orders we’ve met so far got to their position because they were the most ruthless (Naran – Full Moon), most powerful (Gadeth – Seeing Eye) or richest (Darius – Hidden Portal). To become primus of the Order of the Void, one just needs to be the biggest nerd. They are a quiet bunch with a masochistic passion for complex abstract problems. People who want to shoot laser beams or learn mind control are viewed by them as show-offs who don’t appreciate the true art and beauty of energy field manipulation, hence the Order of the Void have zero offensive techniques. They also haven’t been popular with new recruits at all. What they’re extremely good at, however, is reading the gaps in energy patterns, which is excellent for finding hidden stuff and neutralizing the output of other psychics. While planning the campaign in Europe, Tani realized this, and along came a lucrative military contract (you can expect a regime led by the greatest Seer of all time not to underpay its psychics). All of a sudden, membership in the Ordo Vacui is hip and edgy. The older members sigh at this.
Tarekesh, the current primus, has made it her point to stay a bad-tempered slob. She’s got her Seers under a tight reign, which is absolutely necessary regarding the insane workload the military command places on them, and she’s not afraid to speak out when it gets too bad. So far, they’ve proven invaluable – disabling traps, tracing network lines, setting up camouflage, spying, repairing stuff and blocking the N.C.’s most powerful psychics.
So one day, the enemy tries something new, the closest thing they have to mass destruction. Everyone wakes up that morning extremely sick, some even delirious, and it’s only getting worse. The only ones who are seen walking around and doing just fine, maybe even enjoying themselves a bit too much, are the Order of the Void. What’s going on is a powerful inhibitory field, or curse, if you will, and that’s the stuff that’s right down their alley. However, it’s too much for them to undo. Someone needs to get out and take care of the source, and do it before people start dying or they get overrun.

Wow.
