You can tell the sequel was done on a MUCH lower budget. None of the original actors came back either (vocal or physical).

From accounts - after filming had completed - he was on a different set and decided to climb a tower and tragedy struck. Left a stigmata on the filmas well.
As far as imitation... it was a different, Eastern take on TMNT, can't argue with that. But I thought the Rooz really stood out. They could have done something unique for a sequel, but just went the way of the dollar.
That said, i do love my Turtles - especially Donatello ^,,,,^
