I actually had something in mind when this joke was first tossed around. I think it was more avoidance of responsibility/confrontation (not so much a fight, but an argument), more so than actual fear. At the time it was brought up, I think I was actively avoiding people who wanted those stupid digital converter boxes and also people who wanted Wii Fits. Now I think I am most actively avoiding vendors, because goddamn they're stupid.
