This sure feels differently than starying at a lazy, overweight and unhappy bear in bad shape in a zoo, parted from him by security glass. So as we were walking back through Hoh Rainforest, we suddenly faced a frickin' real bear. "Bang pans and pots" is what the warning at the ranger station says. Well, since we lacked both, I did the second best thing that came to my mind: Take out the camera and shoot photos. No one kills the camera man, right? Right?

There have been plenty of times where I've been walking in the woods and found myself a few steps away from a snake. Once it was a huge rattle snake. I watched it, but then moved it along the path with a stick so I could continue. The most recent time was a 5ft long black rat snake. They're non-venomous, and the snake lover in me desperately wanted to hold it xD Then a few feet down the path was a baby one! I bet seeing that bear was amazing :o
My wildest enounter in the wild could be a Jaguarundi (a jungle cat from tropical america), a few rattle snakes, macaws, plenty of aligators but the craziest one was probably in Costa Rica, where I sat on a log and waited for a few minutes for the rest of the group we were exploring the jungle and when I got I realized I had been sitting all that time a few inches from a "terciopelo" snake, it didnt move at all it only left once we were leaving as well
nice.. ive came pretty close to my share of animals.. i live on the edge of bear country roughly 30 miles from the city.. we actually have a couple bears living outhere that pass through the yard sometimes... almost hit one twice once with a car and on a motorcycle.. also was given a run by a moose while on a quad once too..
the coyotes dont really fear people out her either.. yet to see a wolf but i hear them and neighbors have encountered them..
