The Phantom was created in 1962 by U.K manufacturer, Jennings Musical Instruments, maker of Vox guitar amplifiers. Later in the 1960s, the Phantom was built by EKO in Italy, then moved to Asia in the 1980s. Korg purchased Jennings/Vox in 1992 and halted production. Phantom Guitarworks of Oregon now owns the rights to the design and continues to produce the guitar.
