I like Orcs. Not nearly as much as I like Minotaurs, but they're up there. It's probably because they're often the underdogs of the fantasy world, they're always being beaten up by the Humans, Elves and Hobbits/Halfings and it's rare to see them portrayed in a sympathetic light.
Even Warcraft started off with them being savage "Ooh! This shiny!" drones.
When writing I tend to give my Orcs a Germanic theme, thus I tried to base the Gods' names off Nordic/Germanic gods or give them that kind of sound.
