This is an instrumental I've been working on for a while. It took an odd turn at the end when I decided to incorporate some samples and drum loops I helped my brother create 16 years ago for an abandoned project called "Ian's Industrial Breakfast".
It took a lot of fiddling to get the loops to sync with the song as laid to tape, and there are a few things that could be improved.
This is also the first piece I've done since rebuilding the A807 and installing 20 channels of noise gating in the studio.
Feedback is very welcome.
Recording:
*Otari MX80 2" 24-track tape machine
*TASCAM TSR-8 1/2" 8-track tape machine (bass, samples and other fiddly bits)
*Studer A807 1/4" stereo mixdown machine
*May have used a Sharp minidisc recorder for the kitchen noises
Instruments:
*Waldorf MicroWave (son of PPG Wave)
*Moog Voyager
*Roland MVS-1
*Roland JV1010 with orchestral board
*Clavia Nord MicroModular
*Manikin Memotron
*Hammond XM-1 with Rotosphere
*Hammond SK-1 (Solina, Wurlitzer piano)
*Alesis DM10
*Epiphone Thunderbird Gothic
*Audacity and Hammerhead for the sample loop preparations

Thanks. Yes, the silly bits were a lot of fun. There were also less fun moments, e.g. weeks of staring at it in the sequencer and wondering how I was going to finish it. In the end there were still a couple of gaps which didn't go together as well as I'd intended, but I just jammed them together for a demo and decided it was probably okay.
Recording it was a bit of a crash project since I wanted to get it finished before AC. It also helped distract me from the Brexit stuff.

Ah yes, Brexit. Fortunately my job as a bicycle mechanic keeps me very busy at this time of year, plus fixing my own and friends motorbikes in my spare time. And the pub, comics (both paperback and on the web), books and musical intruments. I play the violin and baritone horn. Would love to do some recording sometime but as you can gather, i'm a busy chap! Would love to make it to AC (or any con TBH) one of these years but it looks unlikely due to constant lack of time and money.
On a slightly different note, i was hoping to get to the Thought Bubble festival in Leeds at the start of November as The Chu, creator of the comic 'Slightly Damned' is going to make an appearance. It's her first time in the UK so if you could put the word out where you can as it would be nice for her to get some support/interest from folks in the UK :)

This was a very interesting change. I wasn't expecting an instrumental. It seems a lot more disjointed... Not necessarily in a bad way, but I just sort of got lost a lot listening. Or that could just be because I don't have the cognitive capacity to follow the story of a music without someone actively telling me it through words. ^^;
Still enjoyed it thoroughly. Great job!
