One of the advantages Petina has over any of my other characters is the fact that she knows she's product of my subconscious, and she effectively gets to sit on my shoulder and read all the comments, suggestions and ideas you guys come up for her and my other characters.
A while back I posted some sketches of Petina floating around in bowl of water in a Betta fish costume. Betta Fish Petina Some of my watchers on DA wondered whether her and Jackie had tried using Perfluorcarbon liquids for fluid breathing with Petina? I replied that they'd experimented with them but hadn't been completely satisfied.
Well apparently Petina decided they needed to reexamine the possibilities of liquid breathing, because recently a bunch of new equipment arrived at our safe house in San Jose, and Jackie went into mad scientist mood. Eventually she had assembled a self-contained chamber, with filtration systems, internal power supply, and temperature control. Then it was just a matter of getting Petina to get in and closing it up. Once that was done Jackie started pumping the liquid.
Now Petina knows how the liquid works but that doesn't make it that much easier to overcome your instinctive urge to desperately hold one's breath. Then one initially experiences what feels like drowning only you don't. Once she got past that point Petina found the experience fascinating and then spent the next few hour floating in her own little liquid filled world, with Jackie monitoring her progress.
Of course coming out of the liquid has its own drama because now you need to expel the Perfluorcarbon from you lungs. They are examining possible solutions to that problem. Of course Jackie thinks she has a simple answer. Create an environment where Petina can remain the liquid for longer periods of time so she doesn't have to go the acclimation process as often.
Also it means that Jackie can do more mad scientist experiments on Petina, and that would make Jackie very happy.

Jackie taps her notepad. "Well of course that would require larger observation chamber and methods for feeding the specimen, and then of course there is the matter of dealing with waste disposal but these are not insurmountable problems. Of course if one wanted to conduct pressure chamber testing that would require special equipment." She does some calculations. "I think we could keep in budget." She wanders off to order equipment.
I feel responsible for this. :D
Oh don't worry Jackie was already wandering in that direction, and Petina knows once her lover gets an idea in her head she can become just a bit fixated on the concept. So Petina was figured at some point in the near future she'd get a numbered ear tag and put into large container for an extended period of observations and experiments.

First thought to come to mind when I saw this was Shatter Me by Izzy Hale

Having had to do pressure breathing (high altitudes in an unpressurized cockpit, so the system forces the oxygen into you so you don't suffocate) for long periods, I would suspect that her chest / diaphragm would be -really sore- the next day from having to push the much heavier liquid around, versus the light gases we normally believe.
I also expect that she'd be exhausted after just a few hours of that.
And then there's all that liquid that went up inside her inner ears! Probably had trouble walking too :-P

Hehehe, even for an equipment test, Petina couldn't resist getting into costume, could she? I suppose that's part of why we love her.
..is it odd that I waffle as the whether to put more in-depth comments here or to wait put them on DA when you cross post, as that's where the main discussion on the original image happened? ^_^;

This reminds me of that old BDSM comic I once saw. I think I mentioned it before. You do it much better. Your subjects are rendered in a more appealing manner, your latex looks glossy without being overwrought, your bodies are far more loose and flowing, and everyone is actually smiling and happy about this. More than anything, happiness makes all the difference.
Hate to rain on your parade but breathing this stuff is problematic at best. Yes, you can breathe it and it will keep you alive but it does mechanical damage to the air sacs in the lungs. In other words, after a few breaths, she will be unable to breathe anything else. You can use it for breathing as they actually do in hospitals but you have to stop the breathing process using the diaphragm and circulate the fluid with a gentle pump. A little magic could solve the issue I suppose.
Think you've heard this all before
Now you're gonna hear some more
I know a place where dreams get crushed
Hopes are smashed, but that ain't much
Voluntary experimentation
Going through soft-core mutation
I'm going under
