I'm still feeling disappointed and disillusioned by the recent EU referendum. Though I had my worries in the days leading up to it, I guess I never really thought that the hate and fear would win, that my country would choose blind nationalism over stability and freedom. It's heartbreaking to watch the xenophobic rise of Britain's far right, especially as the daughter of two naturalised immigrants. Even worse is the knowledge that, unless things go horribly wrong for the UK, our neighbours in France are looking to follow our example. Dark times for Europe indeed...
