Soooooo, I went and used my usual method of shading things and... Meh.

I see that something needs to be done, but I don't know what it is or how to go about it. I like this method, it's very smooth, but there's something about this piece in particular that bothers me, and I don't know what it is.

Any critique would be hugely appreciated.
