Hey, I found another booktopper I nearly forgot about! This was inspired by a carving about 4 times bigger in a local hobbyist woodworking store that had apparently been made during a tool demo. Anyway, I liked the concept and tried it myself, but I admit it could be better.

Quite obviously, the book is only there to provide a setting for the piece, so I do not claim it as part of the art, nor do I wish to promote or denounce the publisher of the book. To that effect, I intentionally censored most of the visible text - so that attention would not be drawn too far from the main subject, but rather to the piece I made. It wasn't too interesting anyway.

Technical details:
Material: Basswood (AKA Linden, Lime, depending on your location)
Size: 20-30 MM nose-to-tail
Finish: raw, lightly sanded wood
Tools used: Mini drill with carving bits, knives, sandpaper, carving files
