This is a beautiful graphite illustration of my winged golden jackal / long-legged buzzard (hawk) 'sona, Auric, in his feral simuran form (in the upper right) visiting the artist's griffon-like wolf / raven character Aurin (in the lower left). The background shows the land of Mohrne, where Aurin lives.
This drawing shows two different somewhat obscure canine/bird combinations from mythology. Auric is a simuran (a winged canine, a relative of the Persian Simurgh/Senmurv "dog-bird" http://www.gryphonpages.com/relatives/ and/or based on Semargl/Simargl/Simurgl/'simuran' legends from pagan Slavic mythology). Aurin is based on valravn folklore, which are a sort of spiritual wolf/raven combination. The similarity between Auric and Aurin's names is purely coincidental and their colors and personalities are quite different. Auric is actually quite a bit smaller than Aurin, but he is closer to the foreground.
