This way you can remember what setting you had it on when you were doing that thing! In addition to the pointer washers I also added some neoprene washers under the knobs. These neoprene washers help make the knobs harder to move meaning that if you hit them accidentally during play, they wont be as inclined to change position. Every strat player I know just about has had the experience of their guitar getting quieter and quieter only to look and see that the volume knob had gotten bumped a few times. It's just in a bad spot! But these will help. I went ahead and put them on the tones too because, why not?
The posts on the CTS pots were a little short for all the crap I was putting under the knobs, hence why I cut hex shaped holes in the neoprene washers rather than simply put them under the nut though I think this way is better because as it turned out, the pots never really tightened down very well with the neoprene washer under the nut.
