I was in the mood to record a very sad song, but parents were asleep upstairs. Thus, I plugged in my electric viola and my headphones, and recorded a pizzicato Doina. (Doina is the Romanian/Gypsy/Yiddish word for a sad, lamenting song.)
It's very paced, and there's a lot of airspace, but I feel that gives it a meditative quality. There is no director rushing the notes to come; they are played when the player feels ready to speak them, like a person who is telling the story of their own personal tragedy.
