Any large city had its fair share of abandoned underground developments and Silicon City was no exception. Between earthquakes, modernization, and numerous supervillain capers, there was a considerable portion of the city's underground that was largely forgotten about beyond occasional visits from the local Department of Public Works coming down periodically to keep the city from collapsing on itself. The result was a labyrinth warren of subway tunnels, sewers, and utility corridors known simply as "The Underground" or the "Silicon City Underground" if one wanted to be specific. The Underground was also a popular place to hide for criminals involved in illegal enterprises and mad scientists experimenting in things that should be left well enough alone, hence the need for registered supers to periodically go down and update their maps of the area. Rivetgal was part of the team that drew the short straw for this round of exploration and reconnaissance. All things considered, the patriotic heroine didn't mind this duty. More often then not it was quiet, uneventful, and while it wasn't pleasant, descriptions of the stench was grossly over-exaggerated. It was certainly more productive then paperwork and less stressful then any number of other tactical actions she could be sent on. Unfortunately today was not going to be like most of her trips underground, the recent construction shining in the light of her headlamp suggested that today was most definitely not going to be wonderfully boring...
"This is Rivetgal, I'm in Subsector Alpha-8. I have located what appears to fairly extensive reconstruction of one of the tunnels leading to the abandoned water treatment plant, renovations appear to be less then a week old. Requesting immediate backup."
