Friends of Anthrocon: Penny

Anthrocon 2016, June 30-July 3, seven of the eight partner hotels were represented to the public by a unique mascot character in the form of a standee! I joined Anthrocon as a staff member earlier this year to execute this project, which some of you heard me refer to only as "the secret project" from April through June.
It was important to me that each mascot expressed different interests, body type, gender expression, and so on to illustrate the welcome and open nature of the fandom at its best, so you may notice this reflected in the characters!
For the Omni William Penn: Penny, a king penguin and an artist ready for AC business!

I had the check-in staff gush about her, saying it was a shame she was already locked up for the night, but we "just had to see her" in the morning. (We got in around 2-3 AM.) It was very cool to see her. I knew the art style like familiar, but I didn't place it as yours immediately, which I kinda feel guilty about. ^.^;;
The Marriotts got otters, one of which was named Mary, and the City Center got CeeCee. The Westin got a Westie named Westie for double redundancy. The Hampton got a hampster named Champ. The Renaissance got Renn the wren as Kylo Ren. The Doubletree mascot was named Dubs and happened to be a squirrel.
WHAT IS THE CONNECTION HERE IT IS SO FRUSTRATING HOW DO YOU GET A PENGUIN NAMED PENNY OUT OF "OMNI HOTELS".
ALL THE OTHERS HAVE PUN-REFERENCES IN THEIR NAMES AND USUALLY SPECIES WHY IS THIS ONE DIFFERENT AAAAAAAAA

yeah she was sorta stuck closer to the back . the only reason we found her easily on our trek was because we came in through the back entrance from our adventure to the city center hotel and the doubletree. so we wound up walking right by her spot by random chance.
