I'll write a better description, later. For now have an unintentionally girly-looking Sonic with a Tails.

I like to redesign these two, it's fun.


Now I don't think of this as a "I can do better than Sega/Sonic Team's Sonic" sort of thing. I like to think of this as a "how I like to vision Sonic and co" sort of thing.
I was inspired by the Classic designs, as well as Zootopia and some other Sonic redesign fanart on DA. I saw an idea somewhere that I liked about how Sonic could run even faster without shoes weighing down his feet. Besides, in a world where Sonic apparently is homeless and always on the move, where would he get such neat/clean modern-looking shoes? (in the world of the classic 2D games, of course, since 3D Sonic interacts with humans...and I sometimes like to see different Sonic games as their own universe, but it depends, but I won't get into that, now lol). Plus the fact most furry animals have paw pads that protect their feet, and Sonic must have really tough paw pads with all that running he does.
And besides, drawing paws is much more fun than drawing shoes, to me.

Also gave him a more hedgehog-y look. In the games and a lot of other designs of him, he has long spines like a porcupine even though hedgehogs have stiff, short spines. I liked how Japanese classic Sonic had that look. His design was both cute and cool at the same time, to me. I attempted to capture that hear, but he ended up looking more cute and childish than I planned ^^;

Tails didn't get changed much, although my version of Tails is female (just not too obviously so) just because I am always fond of the idea of Tails being a female character that is more boyish and not so obviously a girl like the other females of the Sonic cast.
It means they'll never have to use their cute girly voice to puberty, too
Additionally, I gave Tails more fox-realistic markings as I usually do. /shot

I had an idea that the rings around their wrists and ankles give them extra energy or stamina so they can last longer while saving the animals and fighting robots, but I've not nothing much besides that in my mind, right now. This is just kind of a quick thing to get some ideas out, since Sonic characters are actually nice to lean towards when you have an art block.
