I found this nifty 3 drawer wooden toolbox at Harbor Freight (Chinese tool retailer) for a reasonable price and decided to use it for my airbrushes.

Cool little box. Looks like it's made of some nice sturdy oak. Or it could be oak laminate. My dad buys alot of his tool related stuff he uses to work on his fuel trucks from Harbor Freight.

It's solid wood and likely oak or some similar wood native to China where it was likely made.

Still, nice unit. But even if it is originally a tool box I wouldn't use it for tools like wrenches and such. Looks too fancy for mechanics tools. Just a simple steel or plastic box for that.

Ironically, this is what would have been considered a cheap toolbox back in the 1940's. It would actually be pretty lousy as a regular tool box as there is no way to keep the drawers from sliding out.

Ya. Not you have synthetic tool boxes that are far light, just as tough if not tougher, are affordable, hold alot of stuff have they have latches to keep the top closed.

I'm sure back them oak was fairly cheap. But now the stuff's too expensive to be making such things.
