Species Preview I'm working on, called the Yewlei (You-Lay)
They do not live on Earth. I may change their anatomy/features up a bit. Obviously this isn't refined yet.
I will be working on a sheet for them over the coming days. I spent like all day doing this. Started around 3PM EST I think ;; I work so slow.
If there is anything similar to this, I haven't personally seen it. Please message me to talk to me if here is something similar.
// Brief Info //
❀ Yarn growing from where a "tail" would be
-- This yarn grows continually, granted that the Yewlei is healthy. Depending on what the Yewlei eats, this yarn will be thicker or thinner, softer or rougher. Rocks, for example, would give a thicker and rougher yarn, whereas cotton would give a softer, finer yarn. It is like hair, it can be cut without hurting the Yewlei. However, it grows at a much faster rate than human hair. It can grow between 10 inches a day up to 50 inches a day. It grows slower when they are younger and faster when they are older. They can make it grow slower or faster with their magickal abilities if they wish to.
❀ Magickal Horn
-- This species always has a horn (or horns). These horns direct magick so that they can control their knitting needles, crochet hooks, and whatever else they need to make things from their yarn. Their magick can be used for other things, such as "floating" (they cannot get high off the ground, only hover a few feet from it), moving small to medium objects (they can't move large objects) and creating air bubbles around their heads so they can swim under water (these air bubbles are temporary and only last a maximum of 30 minutes).
❀ Front Paws and Back Hooves
-- This species lives primarily up in mountainous regions, so they require hooves in order to maneuver through this rocky terrain. Though they have delicate front paws in order to hold their yarn-workings and other things that require a delicate touch.
❀ Chubby and Fluffy
-- Since this species lives primarily up in the cold mountainous regions, they need to be fat and fluffy, they are a mammal after all. They have a thick neck fluff, in order to keep their necks protected both from predators and the cold-elements (sometimes this fur can be short, like in this one pictured though this is a rare trait). Their cheeks and ears are typically always fluffy as well, they need it to protect them from the cold! They can also have fluff growing on their legs.
❀ The Yarn
-- They use the yarn that grows from their tail-region to make things to "sell". They make everything from hats, to socks, to scarves and anything they can. They then barter their items with other species, getting food, protection, even sometimes having another species build them some houses. Anything they want and another species is willing to trade for their items, they can get.
❀ Size
-- They are about the size of a Beagle. (12-14 inches at the shoulder). They weigh about 40lbs, however, with all that fluff and fat. Their are some Mythical Yewlei who are larger, closer to the size of a husky and weigh up to 100lbs. However they are more rare.
// Features //
❀ Horns -- These can be either a singular unihorn or as many as 5 or 6. They can vary in length.
❀ Ears -- These can vary in size and shape, but will always be fluffy.
❀ Yarn ball -- These can vary in size, softness, thickness, colour. Though it can be changed by what the Yewlei eats, once a Yewlei is born, they will choose something to eat and will only eat things that will make their yarn consistent. So, if a Yewlei is born and decides to eat rocks, it will only eat rocks and other hard things such as tree bark through it's life. It will never switch to eating softer things such as grass or leaves.
Colour cannot change later in life.
❀ Body Fluff -- Body fluff will always be on the cheeks. It can grow anywhere else on the body, but most common being on legs and more rare on other places of the body such as the tummy or back.
This is a CLOSED species, you may not make your own.
