The NMUSAF's MiG-21PF.
The MiG-21PF was one of the first of the second generation MiG-21. It featured a RP-21 spin scan radar in an enlarged nose cone, an uprated powerplant, and swollen spine aft of the cockpit. Internal armament of a 30mm cannon on the MiG-21F-13 was deleted as Soviet doctrine at the same (as the same with the USAF) was the belief that the internal gun was obsolete. Instead the PF (and later second generation Fishbed's until the MiG-21S) relied on two missiles for offense/defense. The MiG-21PF was upgraded and eventually became the MiG-21PFM, which sported a side opening canopy rather than the forward hinged unit.
This MiG came from Hungary, which is painted up to represent one of many MiG-21PF/PFV's operated by the Vietnamese People's Air Force (VPAF) during the long Vietnam War. They posed a unique challenge to US fighter bombers during raids over North Vietnam.
