Or maybe Flying a book? This commission dates from 2005, when I finally managed to get an illustration of Kabbalist using his preferred mode of long-distance transportation: the big honking spellbook that he has chained to his waist. It's a lot faster than walking, has fewer issues with inhospitable (or simply immobile) topography than a speed spell, and is nowhere near as prone to disastrous mishaps as a teleportation spell. Mind you, it does take some getting used to at first, rather like surfing or skateboarding.
That cliffside cottage in the background is his house. It's a homey little place perfect for a bachelor: one bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen, living area, cellar, hidden sub-basement laboratory...
"They say that books let your imagination take flight. They forgot to mention the vertigo." --Kabbalist
