Rinnia: An Overview
Rinnia is an imaginary world inhabited by various exotic and unique species. It is the canon home of my currently active Original Species: Fennoms, Faeritails, and Ferriners. I might add more if I feel like it. Each of these species holds its own niche and has its own relations with their world. Rinnia contains a variety of biomes, ranging from civilization to remote regions yet unexplored. Humans often coexist with these species, even sometimes keeping them as pets or companions. It is yet unknown whether Rinnia is a region on Earth, in an alternate universe, or located on a different world.
General World Lore
Rinnia is the home of a variety of strange and intriguing creatures. These species coexist with real creatures such as foxes and birds, even going so far as to become companions for the humans of this world. Fennoms are almost impossible to find in the wild, usually preferring the company of humans. Faeritails are the most abundant in the wild because many of them are timid around humans. Ferriners may make their homes in the wild or with human companions.
Fennom Lore
Fennoms are primarily domesticated, fennec foxlike creatures; it is extremely rare to find them in the wild. They have come to exist as a result of human wishes and happiness, so they have existed alongside humans for a long time. They are born of the expression of happiness for a certain sweet; for example, a child’s excitement and happiness over a cinnamon roll gave rise to Cinna! Fennoms are very friendly and are often found acting as companions for humans. They love being around children and other creatures, regardless of the environment.
Humans often employ Fennoms in therapeutic exercises, as service animals, and companions for young children. Their high energy and happy personalities makes them a good match for energetic children and their colors keep attention on them, keeping the kids out of trouble! Fennoms are known for being very social and like to be around others of their species or others!
Faeritail Lore
Faeritails are a catlike species who act as guardians of specific natural things such as animals, plants, gems, and other natural things. They come in three Classifications: Terrestrial, Ascended, and Fallen. The Terrestrial Classification is the most prominent and common; they are often found wandering various biomes and environments. Ascended Faeritails are those that have done something incredible and extraordinary in defense/guardianship of their natural object. These Faeritails receive a Classification-specific trait to mark their accomplishment and standing and are gifted with simple magic and wisdom. Fallen Faeritails are Faeritails who have forsaken their natural object by letting harm come to it or harming it themselves. The spirits mark the Fallen Faeritail and it can only redeem itself if it completes a difficult task assigned to them by the spirits.
Faeritails are known for being mysterious and living in remote areas, away from humans and civilization. They are very timid for the most part; however, they will fight back if threatened. They rarely if ever come near humans, much less make friends with them. Faeritails are wild creatures, however on very rare occasions, they have been seen with humans. Of all my species, they are the wildest and most feral.
Ferriner Lore
Ferriners evolved as marshes and swampy areas formed across Rinnia. They are a species of semi-aquatic ferret creature and can be found in the wild and with humans. They behave quite similarly to dogs and foraging creatures, thus making them a good companion to humans. Fisherman often take Ferriners with them on trips because the creatures have a superior sense of smell and can detect minute changes in electromagnetic fields, much like sharks do, to track fish and other prey.
They are found all across Rinnia and have adapted to suit various biomes such as salt and freshwater environments. Humans have taken to domesticating and selectively breeding the saltwater variety because of its bright and vibrant colors, creating a beautiful companion animal that is often prized by the rich and famous. This domesticated variety lives just as its wild counterpart, even enjoying the attention. Some Ferriners at aquariums have been known to perform tricks and things on their own accord, just to show off their colors! They use the scale patch on their foreheads to create shimmering light effects and dazzle crowds.
This scale patch serves a purpose in hunting in the wild; Ferriners of all varieties use the semi-reflective patches to lure, stun, entrance, or distract prey or other animals. The scales act as both an offensive strategy and natural defense system. Scales in the patches may come loose with age, but they grow back quickly, just as a shark’s teeth do.
