I figure, if bike messengers are so hot to begin with, what could be hotter than a messenger canine?
I took some cues from K-9's work, in particular some aspects of his head, and tried to use similar shading techniques. In the end it's looking a bit rough, but I feel like I'm getting better, which is a big part of why I'm trying different styles.
The bike is something of the single speed I ride around town, mixed with the simplified aesthetics of a fixed gear. He's taking a break while he's taking another dispatch, but I suspect it's near the end of the day with how tired he looks =P This may show up again if I decide to color it, though we'll see if I get around to that or not.

Nice. The overall roughness doesn't really distract from anything.
Just judging from the few pics you've posted, I think you've already got your own style peeking through, which reminds me of a cubist/impressionist influence. Since I like cubism, I like your emerging style. ;) If you're not already familiar with him, Google Franz Marc sometime. He was a turn of the century artist (the last century) who did a lot of animals. I think you'll like his work.
