"The road was long and winding. We made our way through various places, regions about which we had only ever dreamed.

To a massive island cluster. To a nigh-inhabited continent.

We went further.

A bustling collection of colorful buildings. A sky city upon stone pillars.

Further yet.

A strange, subterranean commune.

The final place: an inhospitable expanse of mountains.

Despite the time, the fighting, and the occasional exhaustion, we found our way through just about everything.

Just about.

I remember an ambush in the lowlands. Tired and unprepared as we were, you insisted on joining the rest of us to fight. Looking back, it seemed that's what it wanted. Its focus seemed to shift away from us to you and had taken upon clones to distract the rest of the group, keeping us all apart.

Something felt strange-- a sudden shiver down my spine. I managed to turn around just in time to catch a glimpse of what was about to unfold, and without thinking I rushed to try to stop it however I could.

Your look of horror was the last thing I saw--"
