I forgot to post this earlier. So a few weeks ago, it was raining and my wife was out shopping with the kids, and she sees this struggling for life in a puddle at Target's parking lot. She scooped it up, let my daughter hold it while they drove home, and released it into our petunias for some photos. It had been injured by a car or a bird, a part of it's abdomen was missing So the poor thing was in shock, and all wet from the rain. It eventually flew off, and I hope that it survived it's ordeal. We have these butterflies in our neighborhood every summer, and the yellow swallowtail is and always has been one of my favorite butterflies. But so hard to get a good picture of them because they don't hold still long enough. But this one did, and I'm glad we got a good photo of it.
