I had to go look up Tyler Durdan, since I never watched 'Fight Club.' I read the Wiki synopsis on the film. Interesting, but out there.
But, Jack isn't one person with two personalities, he's been seen WITH Souffle, so it's not possible. But, what he IS, dead? I don't know. Maybe some kind of coma and he's projecting his thoughts into Gem's mind? Now, that, actually, I could believe. That would explain the insect scorpion thingy that ZeeZee was so afraid of, it might explain the face, the red glowing eye here, his smoky apparition. So, yes, he may be real, but he may not be *there*. Of course, if Grub is still there, then that blows that idea out of the water.
It's a page turner, but no other page to turn to yet!

I'm being reminded of Until Dawn though where one character, (who has a guilt trip of being the cause of his sisters' death though he was drunk and passed out at the time), is taken to multiple counselors and therapists in a single year but is given medicine that is the wrong kind he needs so his mental condition worsens.

ZeeZee, remember, he's YOUR father! Could you possess some of the same evil that he does? Are YOU a danger to Gem, as well, even though when you were younger you tried to protect her? Maybe back then, you knew what Jack was.
And I thought you were just a cute Squirrel like your sister!

If he can pick up the chart, or if Grub is still there when Paul comes in, he's real. Now, I lost my last post because I had to go back and look at the previous page. On the previous page, Jack has legs. Now he doesn't.
So, WHAT IS Jack?
Sam, there are so many twists and turns here, I'm afraid I would crash if this was a road and I tried to drive it! So much for jumping out of bed and beating Jack into submission. Where was Grub when he snuck in? He didn't seem to be hiding anything.
Maybe this IS a dream, or maybe he developed some kind of weird powers or he's already dead, and this is a ghost, or, or, or . . .
Good story, Squig!

Jack is wrong. She may yet face monsters, but she's not alone anymore. She's stronger than she was, and she has Paul by her side now. Also a professional psychiatrist. So.... ha! What do you say to that, Jack!? .... *sigh* I know he can't hear me :3
I usually find some fitting music to play along side these comics, and this page drew Slipknot's "Iowa" to mind; particularly the latter portion of the track https://youtu.be/S9PF09URHdQ?t=12m10s

"i want to hurt you like you hurt us". jack, you are full of shit. >.>
Also, given his dialogue last page, I'm going to assume he's all too real. but that the gaseous effects here is gem's mind going into panic mode, or reacting to her increased heart rate and the medication.
Though I will say, he's looking surprisingly good for being in his early fifties.

We've had the discussion earlier about how people react to Jack in unrealistic ways, I mean, really, he is nothing more that a character dreamed up for a story.
Having said that, however, I keep coming back to this page, and it makes me angrier and angrier at Jack every time I read it. I find that funny because I know he's nothing more than a character in a story, but the story is so well written that it's almost impossible not to hate him. Takes a lot of talent to develop something like that.

I noticed, and like others, I assumed he meant the family. But, Nicole, coming to her in her dreams, doesn't seem to be hurt. Unless she's dead, and communicating from beyond the dead (something I don't believe in, btw)
Hurt is also a perception. If Jack's insistence that Gem isn't his, and it led to the break up of the family, he could claim that the entire family was hurt because of that break up. Yet, that would only be in HIS mind, not that of the rest of the family, particularly Nicole and Souffle. We know that Souffle is still alive, of course, since he was in the courtroom. Nicole, no, we don't know.
However, THAT scene now brings questions of their own. WHY was Souffle there? Why at that court appearance, when Gemma had her breakdown? Is he working with Jack somehow to track her? Has he been shadowing her for her whole life?
Squig has some serious questions to answer here, but a good author always builds to the climax as the story ends, and I'd say the story is getting started on a really good climax.
