The sheer complexity of this comic is mind-numbing. I just went back and re-read the entire thing from the start, and the number of unanswered questions makes my head smoulder.
What's the true nature of the spirits of the Astral realm? Do they "devour" souls to gain dominance and power, rather than out of "hunger"? Were they mortal once too? If so, does this mean Rhoda is becoming a spirit god herself (as in, she's entering the "larval stage")? Mortal life forms at birth, but perhaps Astral "life" forms at death?
Why are people so obsessed with the god of flesh? What happens when they "merge" with it? Do they still exist afterward in some form, or just become absorbed biomatter? Does it emit a psychic lure, merely acting like a venus flytrap to consume more flesh, or is it actually giving them a form of eternal life? Also, why does silver harm it?
Who is the being who wears the wolf mask, and commands the Black Dog? Is it the one from way back who found a way to cheat death?
Why do these black idols keep appearing everywhere...or is it the same idol, moved about by means and for reasons unknown?
More and more questions just keep piling up, and now there's this latest arc. I sure hope we get a few more answers soon... :D
