If you recognize this character, you've probably known me for a long time.
I'be been revisiting old characters of mine lately There are so many characters I have that I've rarely drawn at all or that I can't even remember their names or if I named them at all. This character is a strange case because I used to draw him quite a lot but I don't think I saved much of what I drew. I've tweaked his design. He used to have lots of belts and a furl-trimmed coat and long pants and thick gloves. That doesn't suit the beach setting much though. Now that I think about it, this is actually the first time I've drawn him without gloves.
This is Tasai. He was born in a snowy land and has the ability to see ghosts. Because of that, the residents of his home village believed him to be special and expected him to/pushed him to be a spiritual bridge, connecting the living with the dead. The problem is, most ghosts are of folks who were unable to move on to the afterlife and they are frightening apparitions as opposed to friendly spirits. As it turns out, he's terrified of ghosts, and he eventually runs away from his home village with the dream of moving to a deserted island (with no ghosts) and becoming a bartender. (Only today, after 10+ years do I realize that he doesn't want to be around spirits... He just wants to serve them. Ha...Ha...Hah. Ugh.)
Inevitably though, along his journey he does inevitably help ghosts move on.
This character isn't a part of a comic or story or anything. These are just head stories.
