Do you know the 2010 CGI version of The Jungle Book ? It's for kids, a little too light-hearted contrary to the book which is dark, and it's sometimes cheesy, and there are few mistakes such as Baloo being a brown bear instead of a sloth bear, but it's still more faithful than any Disney version : there are characters from the book that are less known such as Tabaqui, other characters of other Kipling's stories like Rikki Tikki Tavi, Bagheera is a cool and patient guy like in the book while Baloo is a strict teacher, the bandar logs have no king, everyone look down at Shere Khan more than they fear him, Hathi is an old wise elephant, and my fav char in every adaptation, Kaa, is friend with Mowgli.
And this version of Kaa is my favorite ever. OK, he's not faithful to his book counterpart either. In the book, Kaa is patient, wise, old and sweet, while in this show Kaa is coleric, feared by all, arrogant, narcissic, grumpy, kind of selfish... BUT ALSO TSUNDERE ! He is friend with Mowgli, he likes him, he helps him, he saves him several times (and once or twice from SHERE KHAN ! HE BEAT UP SHERE KHAN AND MADE HIM RUN IN AN EPISODE, HISSING, I QUOTE "Let Mowgli alone !..."), he laughs and jokes with him, he allows him to be on his back, to scratch him and to help him, he sometimes gives him wise advices or even stuff like "one day, maybe, you'll be like me" with a smile, YET WHEN HE IS GRUMPY (which he is 95% of the time) HE ALWAYS TELLS MOWGLI THAT HE'S LUCKY HE JUST ATE. COME ON, EVERY TIME HE HAD THE CHANCE HE DIDN'T (ONCE WHEN HE WAS PISSED HE JUST THREW MOWGLI AWAY AND TOLD HIM TO STOP BOTHERING HIM) AND HE ALWAYS HELP AND SAVE HIM, HE NEVER WANT TO HIM TO ME. HE'S JUST TSUNDERE AND CANONLY LOVES TO BE FEARED AND DOESN'T WANT TO SHOW HIS SOFT SPOT, THAT'S ALL !
AND FOR ALL OF THOSE REASONS, THAT VERSION OF KAA IS MY FAVORITE EVER
Mowgli has so many dads. Steven's counterpart except Steven has so many moms.
