Been watching Dragon Knight on Saturday mornings :d!

Never heard of it... BUT! After I googled it, I'mma say it reminds me of Power Rangers a bit, except the costumes are considerably more badass looking! :D

Kamen Rider and Power Rangers (Super Sentai) are in the same genre of action series's called Tokusatsu, and have both been completely mangled and morphed (hah) into US versions, not that that's a bad thing. I'm not really knowledgeable enough to compare the two series's progressions, but YEAH this kamen rider season is fucking BAMF.

LOL yes xD Tokusatsu and Japanese things were a massive influence in action culture before anyone knew what, say, anime was. Did you know that Transformers were originally Japanese too?

All this reminded me of a show I used to watch, The Mystic Knights, cuz it pretty much fits in with the same feel as tokusatsu. I looked it up and THANK GOD that that one didn't originate from Japan. My grasp of reality would cease to exist. D:

I preferred Ryuki than this but I am sad to say that the prodicers did not ask for Kuuga to start off then Agito then Dragon knight and first of all why Kamen? I know its used in japan but we in the US say MASKED. God I cannot wait to direct a Masked Rider show. anyway well done with this.

I read that Steve Wang chose to use Kamen instead of Masked because of the idea that it was a japanese show brought to the US, so he wanted to acknowledge that it was two cultures being brought together, and the name was a way of showing it. I prefer the original also, but I try to remember that DK was clearly limited by budget and target audience.

Well that is all good and nice but I like it in the US to be called Masked Rider still but hey they should have started with Kuuga back in 2009 all the while japan was having the heisei rider anniversary of Kamen Rider Decade. That would have been genius. But if it was limited why did the creators try to ruin it but hey I blame Bandai of America for ruining the design of the original Ryuki henshin belt okus also ruining the Boukenger cell phone with only have 5 zord buttons while the rest was just not programmed.

It's kind of harsh to say they -tried- to ruin it; they did the best they could with the resources they had, and they had to follow limits put onto them by CW to make the show kid friendly for the US, IE. people can't die, chicks cant be hot, etc. Also Bandai had nothing to do with the production of DK, infact the executive producers of DK were from Toei themselves, working with Steve Wang. Regardless of whether or not the product sucks, I think what Wang tried to do was pretty admirable.

I'm not sure what you mean by bringing Bandai into context, but Boukenger/Overdrive was Disney's work as far as I can tell; I don't really follow sentai anymore like I used to, but I had thought Bandai had nothing to do with Power Rangers since the 90s.
