Welcome to the Pridelands by Jazzlioness
Vitani and Bahati, and their little one Tamu, traveled far to get to the Pride Lands, in hope that the King and Queen would allow them into their pride. After battling a drought in the Outlands for what seemed like eternity, the small family of lions decided to find refuge in a land that could sustain them.
The barren, cracked earth turned lush, as their paws padded into the soft, green grass for miles. The vultures above head soon passed behind them, long ago, and the termite mounds were gone. They didn't have to scratch themselves any longer to rid them of those pesky parasites.
They finally saw Pride Rock in the distance, and Tamu darted forward, but Vitani called out to her, "Dear, please, we need to leave a good first impression! We don't want to have to turn around, now, do we?"
Bahati chuckled, "Vitani, leave her be. I'm sure your brother won't be too 'frightened' by her... or will he?" She winked to her mate.
Kovu and Kiara walked toward the small cub, as Tamu greeted them with a bow, smile from ear to ear.
"Hi there sweetheart! You must be Vitani and Bahati's little one?" Kiara knelt down in front of the cub.
"TAMU! What did I tell you about-" Vitani stopped in her tracks, embarrassed. "Brother! Oh, err, uh -- My King!" Vitani bowed to the tall lion.
"Haha, hello Sis!"
"Hello my King!" Bahati also bowed.
"Hello Bahati! Nice to see you two again. But what brings you all here without notice? Is everything alright?"
"Kovu, the drought is getting too bad. We can't continue on any longer living in the Outlands. Nothing can survive there except the termites, anymore. Please, Bahati, Tamu, and I have come to seek refuge in your lands. Please accept us into your pride. We won't make it if we go back." Vitani looked into her brother's eyes, as a look of concern and worry crossed her face.
Kiara stepped up and greeted the couple, and Tamu was standing in between her front legs. "We will accept you, of course we will! I'm sorry that you have been living in such harsh conditions. The pride could use a little more excitement around here, anyway." The Queen's frown turned into a grin, as she looked Kovu's way.
"Absolutely! And where did you find the little one, anyway?"
"She was abandoned, only a few weeks old by a small watering hole that was on it's way to drying up. We couldn't find her mother anywhere, so we decided to take her in," Bahati softly said.
"Kiara's expecting soon anyway, so the more cubs, the merrier," Kovu smirked at his wife.
And so the two lionesses and their cub lived in harmony in their new homelands, with the royal pride as their family. It couldn't be more perfect for them, and their future looked as bright as the night sky, stars twinkling as the Great Kings looked down from above.
Another wonderful piece done for me by the ever-amazing
