PLEASE PEOPLE I wish to give you this heads up
I DONT CARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE BETWEEN THE ORIGINAL SUPPLIER AND FURHAPPENS.COM!
I'm not worried about the issue between a website I don't know and a supplier I have dealt with once.
Please, if you wish to comment, be it about the actual submission - not the issues surrounding a supposed legal battle that I have no part in.
Also, if you wish not to play nicely, I really don't want your comment. Unless its constructive, I really do not want to know about where I can and cannot wear my suit. That I have purchased legally. If you cannot get over it, then please, just have wonderful day and go look at something else.

Excuse me?! I didnt know that Furhappens.com even existed until this. Im from AUSTRALIA and as such its not a common knowledge in this country.
Also, I have not been able to afford an expensive suit - Im unemployed. I saved for months for the one I have now and I cherish it.
Thanks for your rude comments. Maybe you should read the comment above about this.

Greetings all forms of creatures, I ask your calm while I explain.
Everyone is commenting that this suit is a ripoff of Furrhappen's suits namely the one pictured here http://www.furrhappens.com/index.ph.....g2_itemId=6148 . First thing of note is that the suit Trevor has is a mascot suit as evidenced by it's larger head and looser build. The one Crygus has is a proper fursuit. I could continue to point other differences but the main thing is, Crygus's fursona is a typical Red Fox, this is both Trevor's fursona and a pretty common image in comics, cartoons and suits in general.
But if one looks closely, the fur patterns don't match. The best examples. Crygus's footpaws are black up to the shins, Trevor's isn't. Crygus's has a large ruff on the chest, it's clear Trevor's doesn't. The underside of Trevor's tail is white, Crygus's is brown and black. Yes the markings are similar, but it's the same as many other foxes, Furrhappen's fox gallery shows that. The colour scheme is close, but then it's the colours of you're average fox.
Finally if you truely feel that is the case then rather than launch your own complaint, contact Crygus and Furrhappens and let them deal with it. They are the ones infringed, they are the ones that should take action and given as neither of them have it seems neither of them consider this to be a ripoff, just another generic foxuit on the market

Please, I would like to point out to you that this has been an on going battle for furrhappens for almost a year now ( http://furrhappens.livejournal.com/18020.html and http://furrhappens.livejournal.com/18188.html ). Furrhappens knows of this problem and has tried many times to have these suits removed from the market but as they are from china any international laws (IE Interpol ) do not apply there.
Allowing suits like these to flood the market is an affront to people who put hard work and time into suit making. People like those at Furrhappanes, Mixed candy, B3 and so on work there hearts out to make the dreams of those who want a proper fursuit come true, and those who support the theft for suits are not only the problem but should also be accountable for there actions. Rather then allowing offshore sweatshops to steal copyrighted material from people and use it as there own, we need to send a message to those who buy these that the fursuit community can not and will not support there actions. I am a proud owner of a furrhappens suit and seeing this disgusts me, if you want to have a proper fursuit, buy one from a credible source rather then some sweatshop in china.
Best Regard

Hmm ok I read it, and fair enough it's a serious problem. But that is still no excuse to attack Trevor. Without know the details I cannot confirm whether this suit is or isn't pirated. And if it is go after the pirates. What has Trevor done? buy pirated good without knowing that at most.
Also, before you completely unleash the hounds, per se, my suit does not do the things that a furrhappens or whatever suit does. Mine is my fursona and I like my suit. If you dont, thats your opinion, and I would like you to keep it to yourself.
Also, I do not have a livejournal account, so even reading those things are hard, but also, its hard to follow a company that I didnt know existed.
So I bought the suit that I could afford from Ebay and I love it, whats the harm?
Regards
Trevor-the-foxx, proud owner of my fursuit.

The fursuiting community is a vary close knit community as a whole. Given the nature of your suit I would highly suggest that you think seriously about attending any conventions in the near future as having that suit there will not sit well with those who know of the problem or those are will be aware of the problem. It is vary disconcerting to see you be so rude to those who where only trying to show you the true nature of these suits, to subvert those who work long and hard on the dreams of others and make them into reality. If you like your suit, vary well, just know that it is a copy and that stigma of a copy will be with it where ever it goes.
But then you are also saying that I should be ashamed of what I am are you?
A company such as furrhappens sells a full body suit for over $1800 US. I cannot afford that on my current wages (thats nearly a year's earnings for me currently - I earn 5000 AU a year). I went to Ebay and saw the suit that I am proud to wear. It may be a bit silly to you 'proper' fursuiters, not that I knew there was a distinction either, but I am very close to my fox. I even have been around 'proper' fursuiters and they have never made a snide comment about it. Until two days ago, I didnt even really know of the other options.
But what about these manufacturers that make a product that is not very good, but at least affordable to furs like myself. At least then I can participate and as I can afford it I can upgrade my fox parts. Unless you, or furrhappens, or someone would like to *buy* me a new suit then I am going to be happy wearing what I can afford, and I have gotten quite close to.
And what stigma is on my suit? It really doesnt look that much like the 'original'. The teeth are different. The eyes are a different shape. The body doesnt have any black on it (stomach / shoulder region). The tail isnt the same. The only two real similarities is that its a red fox and it has green eyes.
If you hadn't been so rude, maybe I would be more open to your suggestion. But remember that being rude to start with saying 'Its just a copy' instead of 'We know you love your fox, but are you aware of this'. Maybe then it would sound less like a 'You shouldnt wear it'.
Also, just to finish, there is one convention I go to because the rest are too far away. Im sure the people there, my FRIENDS, who know of my situation and what I had to do to just get this suit, will be at least a little sympathetic.

Way to go Trev. I am backing you up. As for you Ochosi... I really don't know what your problem is with Trev in this case. You are nagging him about things he is NOT fault at. You are mad at that market that creates such suites for cheap, but you keep naggig this one person about it. What's the point in making someone feel miserable just to proove your point in this?
not to mention that even after someoen told you the differences of the suit Trev wears and the one in furhappens, you keep nagging him he shouldn't wear it and such. My friend he has all the fucking freedom to do what he wants! If I knew where you live I would get sucha suit from ebay and stand in front your house all day just to anger you and prove you I have the freedom to do so.
In overal your posts, Ochosi, are irrelevant when it comes to trevor, and mean something ONLY in a more global aspect. If you so hate such cheap costumes, then stick up with furhappens and help them stop otehrs from creating them! Nagging one person about it will get you absolutely nowhere.

I'm going to have to agree and disagree with you here, the problem is that in Ochosi's case he spent a lot of money to get his suit, is personal friends with both the creator/designer as well as the current owner and to see a cheap knock-off of this nature is insulting to him, as it should be. Imagine what you may feel if suddenly you saw someone walking around with a cheap knock-off of a suit you commissioned or created? For Ochosi and many other suiters, this is a real possibility and furs should acknowledge that there's a market for these knock-offs and should boycott purchasing said knock-offs of other people's suits, despite the costs. I'm sure Trevor could easily build his own for the same price or cheaper and not have to contribute to a veritable black-market of fursuits.
I will agree with you though that attacking Trevor is like treating the symptom and not the cause, yet, when dealing with Chinese markets, there is no recourse against them. They exist outside Interpol's reach and any form of legal repercussion, in essence, there is nothing that could be done to stop the making of these suits except to not contribute to the market.
However, Trevor's reaction to the news is snide and smug, as if he feels that he is invincible because "he didn't know" or because he is from Australia, its a poor excuse. Once told about the situation, he ignored it, and this was 2 days prior to Ochosi or anyone else who posted here today bringing it up.
I feel sorry for him, he was duped into buying a knock off and knowing how tight-knit the fursuiting community is, it is highly unlikely he will be allowed to roam freely at one of the conventions that would have another Furrhappens suit or any other suiter that knows of the fakes. It's a slap in the face to them and an insult to the community, mind you not saying Trevor but the origin of the suit.
Really, had Trevor been more humble about this situation doubt there would of been need for any heated arguments or accusations. I quote Trevor "I don't care.", rather ballsy to say that to someone in a situation like this, can't blame Ochosi for getting peeved at that. Trevor might love his suit, and even made changes to it, still doesn't change the fact it is still a knock-off of someone's personal suit.

To be quite honest, I was happy to let this go - the problem is that I have been harassed outside of this forum as well.
Let me say this - is it my fault that it was a knock off - no.
And in the listing I purchased from, the picture of it was actually like the one above. Unless you saw the exact listing I bought from, you have no knowledge of what I was shown.
The position I have taken is that of apathy to something that doesnt actually affect me directly, nor I can affect directly from this point in time. Why does the furry community have to make such a huge drama over something that has nothing to do with them. Also, when you are threatened if I wear it, I feel thats worse form.
If I seemed smug or snide, it was from a translation error from the forum that we are using. I have not intended to give that impression.
IF I had known it was a knock off, I may not have purchased it. But I have, I will wear it proudly because it is my own.
And before you get off the figurative high horse, if I acknoledge that it is a knock off (which, to me it really isnt) and I wear it because I love it, does that make it bad?
Also, I wish to point out - it was said was it a chinese knockoff of a suit, I said I didnt know, and then was asked if it was off Ebay. How is that knowledge of a problem that has spanned over a year?
But also, who says I would have purchased a furrhappens suit? They do not have the market monopoly do they? My suit was purchased because it was a red fox. Not because it looks like a suit I have never seen in my life. Also, I have had this suit well before the market issues that are affecting us now.
The last thing - and this will annoy you all immesly (and i do mean this in a snide way) - theres more to the world than the US.

Yes I do agree it will make someone feel bad if he payed a lot of money to get an original suit, but we can't stop this alone now can we? As for the suit that is a 'copy' I will give an example with two of my friends. Two fursuites made from different companies, yet idential. Why? Well hell... Black wolves with yellow eyes. They didn't want anything that will make them look different from their furonas. The only difference in those fuirsuits was how they were made. So what to do then? Sue each other or the companies that they got the frusuites from? It would be stupid so they tagged along. As mechaman said earlier in this post "Crygus's fursona is a typical Red Fox, this is both Trevor's fursona and a pretty common image in comics, cartoons and suits in general." So its just our ordinary fox, but not made by professionals. I wonder if he had the same suit with same markings as Ochosi, would he react the same way? Saying its a 'copy' even if he ordered it from anotehr firm?
What we can affort and we like, we buy. I bet my head that if Trevor had the money, he would have buyed the same suit that was shown from Mechaman's link to furhappens, or order one himself that willl look the same like hte one we see on the picture he posted. From all the posts it looks like that not how it is created, but how it looks (like a mascot) is everyone's problem. And from there we get to the part it 'looks' similar to one of furhappen's fursuites If that bugs everyone.. then Hell I would say the same as Trev. 'I don't care'

Your example is flawed for the simple fact that those were two suits, made by different people, but by a fluke looked alike/similar. It wasn't the intention of those creators to copy the other for monetary gain. These suits however, Trevor's, are in fact copies of Furrhappens suits. The original auction listings even showed (in this case) Crygus's suits photoshot as the product being sold.
In defense of Ochosi, there is actually a similar suit to his out there. All that varies is the shade of red and some structural differences. They were made by two different companies but they showed similarities, from a short distance they practically look alike. Nothing is wrong with that, it happens, nothing is original anyhow. Many traits overlap from characters of the same species, its bound to happen.
Now, each Furrhappens suit is custom made and no two look alike, that is how they operate. Would Trevor, had he bought a suit from them, look exactly the same as Crygus's? Aside from the fact it is another red fox, no. Each is made differently in their own right and here in lies the problem and back to my original argument.
Is it right for the community to knowingly purchase cheap knock-offs of other people's suits for the sake of price? The global economy is weak right now yes, but pirating something of this nature, from a small company, is bad for the community as a whole. It suffers because of this and Trevor happens to be the unfortunate one to have been duped by buying into this black market, unknowingly.

I should add that upon finding out this news, Trevor's reaction was less then forthright to acknowledge there was indeed a problem, instead he shunned his nose to it. Mistakes happen, we get tricked, doesn't excuse you from the reality of the problem. Had he been more accommodating to the news, it is doubtful there would of been any real problem. Furrhappens may even have wished to work a deal with him to correct the mistake (Assuming here that is) as it would be great promotion, based on his reaction though, that now would seem even more far-fetched an assumption to be made.
But its not that big of a problem to me - it seems to be a much bigger problem to you. I wear my fox with the love that i have.
And furrhappens.com NOR the other party in this have contacted me. So if its such an issue for them, they have had several days to comment on this.

I want to say this - and I am not targeting you - whats the difference? I bought mine from another supplier. And the physical similarities are quite weak in this case. When I was told that it looked similar to another suit and was linked the site, they didnt look similar to me.
Maybe this is inexperience in my knowledge, but can someone tell me *exactly* how they look the same?

Not your fault for being unaware of the issue. It's not the fact that the two foxes look similar, but the seller has offered for sale obvious knockoffs in the past so the seller cropping up again with lookalikes is going to cause a ruckus.
Perhaps on your main author comment put something like "I was unaware that the seller of the costume has has copyright issues with Furrhappens and other fursuit sellers when I purchased the suit. so Please refrain from vicious comments. I enjoy my suit and have modified it from the original" or something like that
I am a close friend of the owner of Furrhappens and since she is not angry at you but the seller, I am happy to keep this civil and please exercise Caveat emptor in the future and research e-bay sellers thoroughly before making a bid or purchase

Well, i think your suit is very cute.
The head might look a bit big, but its adorable.
To all the people saying it looks like another suit, well it's a fox... foxes look like other foxes.
They all look the same.
Don't listen to all those other rude comments.
Tho getting a fursuit is like buying a dog. :3 Just gotta research.
