Same with bubble-gum pistols or chocolate pistols. Funny how that works.
I bet it's a bitch to find any kind of toy syringes, too. Those used to be in all the doctor/nursey play sets.
Do we WANT to live in a world where all the corners are padded and all the edges rounded off? Some of the best years of my life amounted to making my own mistakes, dammit...

There used to be candy pipes, too...
I used to be all over the candy pipes and cigarettes and stuff as a kid (although smoking was perfectly acceptable back then...It was a while ago). The heaviest smoker I've ever been was maybe a cigar a month for celebrating certain events, and I did that for about a year and a half, several years ago.
Clearly, this stuff EFFS KIDZ UP.
(I'm not gonna discuss where the gun fixation went tho.)

she looks like such a punk x] And I love candy cigs, they still do them in a little market place near my town =D Their addition to the picture makes it really cute, like she's trying to look tough XD Love the sepia tones too, they make it look really old, like something on the side of a box from the 50's
I have a pack of Flintstones candy cigarettes. Though they're actually called
"candy sticks." So it goes.
I also remember these fake cigarettes I'd get as a kid. They weren't edible; they were rolls of paper that looked like cigarettes, but both ends were closed with a tiny wad of paper inside and a small amount of what was probably flour. You would inhale and exhale on the paper tube, causing the small wad of paper to hit the flour on one end of the little "cigarette," which would then emit what looked like a puff of smoke. A strange little novelty that would make for hours of mindless fun. After the flour was used up, I would take apart the cigarettes and unravel the small wad of paper, which was usually covered in Chinese characters. A weird, but amusing childhood memory.
Nice drawing, BTW (check my comments on Claire's version).

You can still find bubble gum cigars sometimes.
Anyway, I had two Catholic teachers back when I was in the third grade confiscate some other students' pretend paper cigaretts. After that, they said it was a "proven fact" that candy cigarettes and pretend cigarettes will make you adicted to cigarettes when you grow up.
When I did grow up and learned what bullshit was, I realized that the third grade teachers at the Catholic school spouting that nonsense obviously had reefer madness.
