After having been rescued from cryogenic stasis and returned to the world fifty years removed from the one they once knew, Loren and Matthias have a talk about this strange new world they've found themselves in as well as the ship whose captain has made them a member of her crew.
With four of his most trusted fellow dinosaurs at his side, Loren and Captain Quill must find a way to work together to outrun the corporation and retrieve the rest of the dinosaurs from their control. First, they've got to make some money.

"As the pilot and chief operations officer of this vessel, the running of its systems is my responsibility. As a trained professional, I have the qualifications and experience necessary, and thus I have the final say on how things are run. So until such time as the captain sees fit to assign you to the helm, I get to choose the radio station."
Oh dang does this make me look awesome! I love that sitting stance with my legs and tail (oh I love the tail!) and the back of my head and frill and horns and everything! The uniform looks awesome too! I do have the air of reporting on our condition to you as I fly the ship. Boy do we make a good pair of Triceratops together in this one! Fantastic!!

That it does. ;) I certainly might have to indulge in my triceratops form from time to time. :)
The uniforms are positively gorgeous. Functional, efficient, with nice lines and great emblems and such on the arms. ;) I love the gloves you've got on, and I kind of think that even if they had other clothes that would fit them (seeing as they're taller and larger than any of the other anthros on board) they'd still wear their uniforms because it's familiar. A piece of their past, as it were. I imagine their boots are rather huge as well.
Both of our poses are spectacular. ;) We do make a fantastic pair. ;)

I encourage you to indulge in being a Triceratops!
Yes, the uniforms really make this picture stand out. Fantastic and stylish and all those things you said too! Plus, with the buttoned front, something we could actually put on. I always give people weird looks when they draw my Triceratops self in a T-shirt; how am I supposed to get that on over my head with these horns and frill?
And yes we do look great like this! How goes the next chapter?

He's definitely growing on me. ;) Probably one of the few 'other' versions of me that's really evolving to be different than the original base model Lauren. :)
It's always something to think about, how clothes and other things would change in a furry world. I imagine that deer and other horned animals would have a lot of trouble with a t-shirt. ;)
Chapter 4 is finished, I need to find some time to work on five and figure out where to take this. :)

I'm glad to hear that he's branching out like that. It's nice to see the characters take on a life of their own.
I believe that a lot of styles for clothing would be anthro-race dependent. Button up shirts for any race with horns or antlers or the like. Lots of clothes you can slip into for rodents, mustelids, and the like, and so forth.
Please email it to me so I can see!!

Ooh, neat. I've always kind of liked the idea of having a character revived from some kind of stasis and thrust back into society at some point well beyond their own era. I kind of blame the Aliens films for that, to be honest. But it sounds like a really interesting idea, and one that's certainly rich in potential sources of conflict, both with this mysterious corporation and even with their new allies. Just look at how much our own social mores have changed in the last fifty years, for a start! Not to mention the advances in technology and all of the historical and cultural references that they won't know but which everyone else takes for granted. So this is a very neat idea all around!
The art is gorgeous, too, and I really like the ship design, or at least as much as is visible. It has an interesting sort of utilitarian feel, and all kinds of fascinating knobs and levers you just want to play with!

For some reason I've never been able to use dinosaur characters alongside my mammals and other things. I think in part because I know they never coexisted even though fantasy and furry is all about doing what you'd like to without 'reality' per se influencing the fact that you're a blue haired zebra who walks upright. That said, Exodus Rising was based on an idea that would let me get around that restriction, because dinosaurs did exist, but what if they were forced to be soldiers in a war they didn't have a part in? To hide their using them as a 'slave race' the nation placed them into stasis and hid them but the country in time collapsed, though their records fell into the hands of others in later generations...
So we have some dinosaurs literally and figuratively out of time, who have never even had the choice to make their own destiny in the first place. Now that they exist, they're not just going to be accepted and given rights, that just doesn't happen. As far as what will...
Ever since Firefly I've been a fan of the work horse cargo ship being something more than just a hauling device. The ship is fast and sturdy, but she's not got a lot of weapons so it forces a lot of creativity. :) The original story Lauren was a part of was somewhat similar, though the cast has been scattered a bit to different universes, but there's something to be said for a small intimate spaceship crew. ;)

It definitely does a lot to help establish the dinosaur universe. :) I love the detail on their uniforms. Clothes designing has always been my weak point but lucky for me I know a lot of talented artists that can do that for me. :) Once I have a design I can keep it running but for some reason clothes... Always eluded me. :)
I'm definitely looking forward to exploring the adventures of Captain Quill more. ;)

Thanks, 3T did a great job!
I always for some reason had a hard time finding a way to use dinosaurs in my worlds, just because I could never find a reason in my head why dinos and modern species would coexist. I guess it's a mental block since I could just say 'because' like I do with some things, but it made sense that an isolated colony of them maybe survived and eventually were picked up to serve as soldiers in an army against their will. Now they find themselves free, at least some of them, and after generations of servitude don't know where they fit in the universe.
I'm still thinking on plans, possibly combining my original idea for a second story into the second half of the first, but when I'm done with what I'm working on I'm hoping it becomes clear.
