Chapter Seven: First Mission
At last the time came upon the two Padawans for the first mission together with another. However this would bring a few surprises for them. Even though it was Huraz-Alaz's first assignment, the Nelvaanian was confident and knew she had the others with her. Right now it found the masters and Padawans in another ship, this time heading to one of the planets in the Republic. The young ones were sitting near a table. Nicholas just had his arms crossed, and eyes closed. It was like he was meditating or something. The female Nelvaanian was just thinking over on what had been said before taking off.
It all started a few days after the practice duel the Padawans had. They and their masters had gone to the Jedi High Council and had been told that the mission was to take place on Dantooine. Apparently a group of bandits had come here to hide out. But it was what they were carrying that was of greater interest. While these people didn't know was that they were carrying Jedi Artifacts. Apparently these had been obtained elsewhere and the bandits were going to sell them on the black market. But their ship had crashed onto the planet. It would be up to the four to track them down before repairs were made.
Huraz-Alaz looked up to see Nicholas still in that pose. "Hey, you okay?" she asked. The male human opened his eyes.
"Yeah," he replied. "Something wrong?"
"Not at all. But I'm a little excited we both get a mission together."
"It's probably because for your master this is her first with an apprentice. The Council probably wanted someone like mine to go with her for this. After that you'll be going on assignments with her alone."
Before more could be said Daran and Neron came into the room. "We'll be arriving soon," the older male stated. "We'll figure out what to do when we land."
The ship came out of hyperspace and the four could see the planet. This time Huraz-Alaz knew about the planet since she had done some research. This place was a pleasant world of grasslands, rivers, and lakes. Since there wasn't industrial settlements or advance technology this was a good place to hide, but left her to wonder how the bandits would repair their ship. The vehicle that had the four Jedi landed and all of them got out. "It's a peaceful place," Nicholas commented and took a deep breath in.
"But how will we find them?" asked the Nelvaanian.
"The Force will guide us," said Daran. "Artifacts like that should be able to be sensed. Now let's make haste."
"When we find them, what then?" asked the youngest male human to his master. "I doubt they'll just hand them over."
"We'll try negotiations," answered Neron. "At worst if it comes to fighting just let me and Master Daran handle that, okay?" His Padawan nodded. The small group made their way across the landscape. There was one house they passed and even saw the wildlife. But it wasn't until sunset that they managed to find the target. They could see the bandits around their ship. Some were guarding and some were repairing.
"Let's just set up camp for now and we'll try during the night," stated Neron. The other three nodded, not fully aware how this would go. Night slowly began to fall and the Nelvaanian couldn't help but feel a little nervous. Nicholas must have sensed this because he gave her an encouraging smile.
"Don't worry; we have out masters and The Force. With those two things, we'll be fine. Although I can understand you being nervous. I was to for my first one with Master Neron."
"Did it go well?" she asked.
"Fairly. Just follow my lead. Especially if we may have to sneak into their ship to get the artifacts. I've practiced infiltration and done so a few times on actual missions before. Shouldn't be too hard. And I'm certain these bandits are weak minded. A Force Trick should do the trick."
Huraz-Alaz knew those to be ones that could influence others to saying or doing things a Jedi wanted. But not for power or greed. The moon and stars came out. It was time and the group of four slowly made their way to the target.
