I was taking a class on microwave theory and measurement.
I fell asleep in the class.
The instructor snuck up behind and tapped me on the shoulder.
"What were we discussing?"
"Directivity in directional couplers and how that affects the accuracy of the measurement."
"Very good, go back to sleep."

Several others beat me to it, but it's hardly a secret anyway. You've once again mixed history and fiction in a way that makes me (and many others) crave more. I'll bet your a champion bed-time story teller, too. Though I did kinda wonder about a young guy who carries around a picture of a plane with his naked mother plastered on the side.
I saw a video recently where a pilot was forced to land a large passenger plane in a heavy crosswind. It looked... painful. The angle between the body of the plane and the runway was easily ten to twenty degrees, even though the plane was moving exactly at the direction of the runway. I have difficulties to estimate such things in my head, I just try to imagine the air as water running in a river and the plane as a swimmer trying to get to the shore... and it makes sense that the pilot had to steer so much against the wind to get the plane where he wanted it to be. He cannot just aim at the ground, the plane actually has to get to the runway to not to crash. Must have been a "I hope this works the same as in the simulator" moment for the pilot as well.
I do agree, having many cycles in you doesn't make you a bad person. Although, substantial amount of this planet would disagree. Having more secularism would make life so much easier for the whole world. Extremists and fanatics just cause pain and suffering for all, trying to fit everybody into their incredibly narrow view of the world.
Nice little story. I enjoyed it.

thank you panzer and your words are quite true...
*smiles... I used to drive out to the end of the runway in Miami when the weather was blowing hard and watch the airplanes landing. They would stay cocked like that until the very last moment when they would straighten to land. It always amazed me.

Pretty much - since it was a prompt - that's all the further it would go. There are a lot of tales that go with the old bomber art. Overseas the crews were allowed to go with full nudes. When they came home they had to cover the naughty bits. One B-17 gunship crew painted the nude image of an Italian fighter pilot's wife on the side of the airplane (he was flying a captured P-38) to lure him in as he was going after wounded B-17's. It worked and they got him.
