The theme of the day was 'The Dance'.

The inspiration for this piece came from an ages ago conversation I had with my friend Will. I have always loved the idea of sentient Elementals and one day approached him with the odd idea for a world where they controlled all sorts of natural events. Rainstorms were the result of Water Elementals trailing a slow waltz, wind was Air Elementals racing each other, and lightning was a Lightning Elemental high-diving.

He laughed at my nutty idea, but seemed to like it. We eventually ran the list of natural events and disasters and finally came to a volcano erupting. He seemed to think it would be a contest between Fire Elementals to see who could heat up the hottest. But my brain grabbed the idea of a full orchestra of Elementals playing every instrument under the sun, to the direction of Mother Earth. (Classical music for the win)
