A displacer beast is a magical monster from AD&D. They're basically big cats with tentacles on their shoulders which they can use to attack enemies or prey, and they naturally project an illusory image of themselves several feet away from their real location as a form of protection. They're pretty neat, unless you happen to be their chosen prey.

I think of the 3 my Fav is the green one (because Bias I suppose) though the purple one on the far left is interesting looking as well ^^ Wouldn't mind nabbing another character maybe ^^
