I think I started drawing this over a year ago, and only worked on it randomly at times. I finally told myself stop trying to make it look completely amazing and just deal with what i could do skillwise. I originally wanted to make the water animated, but nah!
This is a scenery re-draw of my Dilluh Hotspring picture, from 2012 for my Anizion world, a personally made world from me.
Original lore from first picture:
Dilluh is a large land often covered in snow. They only get spring every few years, and it doesn't last long. Deep within their forest, there lies these hot springs. The water is constantly hot, though the snow never melts and no one is entirely sure why. The water glows a bright green, even in the dark, making it easy to spot when out at night, but nearly impossibly to find during the day. Not many people have had the luxury of bathing in these water, any hike from a town takes too long, and requires a lot of supplies and warm clothing. But in the end it is often worth it. Soaking in these sweet, candy scented waters will leave you relaxed for weeks; you'll also never be scolded by the temperature of the water.
The green flecks that constantly float in the air are the easiest sign to knowing you're getting close to the springs. The animals that roam near by are never viscous; if fact, if you're lucky(or not lucky) some might even bathe in these waters with you. There are plenty of trees around for privacy.
There are four large springs of these in the same area, all of which flow down over hallow rocks and down to the ground, which then all connect further along the way and end in a smaller pool. They flow out from cracks of a large, enclosed cave, forming these springs. No one has found a way inside this cave, so they aren't sure just how this water is made and what's inside. Perhaps there are more springs within?
Expensive spas will use waters similar to these in their bathing rooms; but it is never as good as the real thing. You can also purchase certain quantities of this in rare stores, but there isn't much use to it other than soaking in it. Despite it's sweet scented smell, it isn't good to drink.
During the spring season, when the snow is gone, these springs turn to regular streams. They will no longer be hot, nor glow; so no longer have value. Do you think that happens inside the caves they come from too?
